Cybercab Customer Deliveries Set For Year-End
Tesla plans to release Cybercab units to customers before 2026 ends, though most vehicles will remain in its own robotaxi fleet.

Tesla has set a target to deliver Cybercab units to customers before the close of 2026. During the company's third-quarter earnings call on October 21, Vice President of Engineering Lars Moravy stated that production on the Gigafactory Texas line is proceeding, with the aim of handing vehicles to buyers by year's end. This timeline addresses ongoing speculation regarding when the fully autonomous vehicle might become available for purchase.
Moravy noted that current output is being allocated entirely to Tesla's internal Robotaxi fleet. He indicated that as operations expand, the company will transition to delivering fully designed autonomous vehicles to customers, with the Cybercab serving as the first model for this purpose. Initial deliveries are planned to be small in scale as the company builds experience with logistics, ownership models, and fleet management.
CEO Elon Musk addressed the vehicle's intended role during the call, characterizing it primarily as a transport-as-a-service offering rather than a personal ownership vehicle comparable to the Model 3 or Model Y. He stated, "The vast majority of the Cybercab stuff will be Tesla-owned and transport-as-a-service." This distinction outlines a strategy where the majority of units remain under the company's control for commercial use.
The Cybercab is a two-seater vehicle designed without a steering wheel or pedals, relying fully on Tesla's Full Self-Driving suite. Production on the vehicle commenced in February 2026. By early September, early units were integrated into Tesla's Robotaxi service, which began offering rides to the public. Previous company indications suggested a price point of approximately $30,000 for the vehicle.
While the timeline for Cybercab deliveries has been established, other software-related milestones are scheduled for later. Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla's Head of AI, indicated during the call that Unsupervised Full Self-Driving is expected to ship to consumer cars during the second quarter of 2027. This release date applies to standard consumer vehicles rather than the Cybercab specifically.
Regulatory hurdles remain a factor for the rollout. Early buyers or fleet operators may receive vehicles whose autonomous operation is restricted to specific geographies due to lagging agencies. The company is proceeding with plans to deliver Cybercab units to customers by the end of 2026, subject to these constraints.
