The Chelan County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Thursday that two individuals were taken into custody after officers recovered approximately 13 pounds of cocaine. The arrests concluded a coordinated effort that combined local detective work with federal investigative resources. Officials stated that the suspects were traveling near the intersection of State Route 2 and School Street in Wenatchee when they were detained.
The operation targeted a specific trafficking route. Investigators developed probable cause to believe the two suspects were moving cocaine from the Seattle area to Wenatchee for resale. A man from SeaTac and a woman from Tacoma were identified as the primary targets in this distribution channel. The specific details that led authorities to establish probable cause regarding the movement of the drugs were not released to the public.
Federal agents played a direct role in identifying the suspects. Homeland Security Investigations worked alongside Chelan County detectives to trace the individuals. Once the suspects were identified, the East Cascade SWAT team was called in to assist with the takedown. The SWAT unit located the pair while they were traveling along State Route 2 and placed them under arrest.
Both suspects were transported to the Chelan County Regional Justice Center following their capture. They now face charges of felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The sheriff's office noted that the suspects' names were shared on social media, but no further personal details or background information were made public at this time.
The Chelan County Sheriff's Office described the event as a demonstration of interagency cooperation. In a social media post, the office stated that the effort showed the importance of collaboration between local and federal law enforcement agencies. The department thanked Homeland Security Investigations for its continued partnership in protecting the residents of Chelan County. The office said this work helps disrupt the distribution of illegal narcotics in local communities.
