A family in Tacoma is asking neighbors for financial help to cover the costs of burying a teenager killed in a violent street ambush. The incident involved a group of young men in a parking garage who came under sudden fire from multiple shooters.
Tacoma police identified the attack as a retaliatory measure. Investigators stated that one of the suspects had been shot the night before the incident. They believe the group targeted the victims in the garage to respond to that prior shooting. At least four individuals were involved in the ambush.
Ebony Tucker, the victim's mother, said her son, Josiah, had no known ties to the groups involved. She noted that he had spent the previous evening at home in his room playing video games with friends. Tucker emphasized that Josiah was not a gang member and was not active in the streets in the way the suspects were described.
Police have arrested four people in connection with the case. The most recent arrest involved a 16-year-old suspect taken into custody by officers. The department continues to work through the details of the shooting to identify all parties responsible.
Tucker described Josiah as a good teenager who did not deserve the outcome of that night. She expressed the deep personal impact of the loss, stating she did not want anyone else to feel the same pain. To manage the financial burden during the grieving process, the family set up a GoFundMe page to pay for funeral and burial costs.
