Police Hunt Suspects After Brisbane Pub Shooting Kills 19-Year-Old

A 19-year-old woman died this week following a drive-by shooting that occurred outside a Brisbane pub on Saturday night. Vana-Reese Schuster-Togiatau, who resided in Jimboomba, sustained gunshot wounds to her head and neck. She passed away at Princess Alexandra Hospital on Thursday morning.

The attack happened while masked gunmen fired into a crowd outside Fitzy's Loganholme. The venue was hosting a boxing event at the time. Three men, aged 27, 37, and 38, were also transported to the hospital. One man is recovering from surgery, while the other two have been released.

Detective Inspector Ian Galpin stated that approximately 80 officers are working the case. He described the investigation as ongoing and emphasized the need to identify those responsible. "We will not stop until these people are identified and taken into custody," Galpin told reporters.

The detective noted that the victim was in the prime of her life when she went out with friends. He characterized the attack as a cowardly act that took her life. Galpin also appealed to the community, asking those with knowledge of the incident to come forward with their information.

Police are currently exploring possible connections to organized crime. Galpin said investigators are keeping an open mind regarding gang involvement. If the inquiry identifies gang members or associates, the scope of the investigation will expand. The victim's family has requested privacy during this difficult time.

The search for the gunmen continues. No arrests have been made as of Thursday. The investigation remains active as police gather evidence and interview witnesses in the Logan region.
