Washington State football sits at 1-7 overall and 0-4 in Pac-12 Conference play following a home loss to No. 21 Boise State last Saturday. The defeat on Oct. 24 eliminated the Cougars from possible bowl contention. The team is now seeking its first victory in the new Pac-12 format.

The Cougars travel to San Diego to face the Aztecs at 4 p.m. PT on Saturday, Oct. 31. The game will be played at Sanpdragon Stadium. San Diego State enters the matchup with a 3-5 record after a 56-49 loss to Colorado State. The Aztecs aim to rebound in front of a home crowd.

Freshman quarterback Owen Eshelman started his second consecutive game for Washington State. He passed for 191 yards and one interception in the loss to Boise State. The offense struggled to move the ball on the ground, managing only 53 rushing yards. The team has lost five straight games.

Washington State holds the edge in the all-time series against San Diego State, leading 3-1. The Cougars won their last two meetings against the Aztecs in 2024 and 2025. Fans can watch the broadcast on the CBS Sports Network. Radio coverage is available through the Cougar Sports Network and on Sirius XM channels 261 and 987. The WSU Cougars Gameday app also provides audio access.

The Cougars have a bye week after the San Diego State game. They return to action on Nov. 14 to host Colorado State. Washington State currently trails in the Pac-12 standings with a 0-4 conference record. The team’s last win came in their first conference game of the season.

The matchup is scheduled for Halloween. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. Pacific Time. San Diego State has won three of its first eight games this season. The Cougars are looking to end a five-game skid against a team that lost its previous outing in a high-scoring affair.

Washington State’s defense allowed a substantial number of points in the recent loss. The offense needs to improve its production to secure a win in San Diego. The team will rely on Eshelman to lead the drive. The result will determine their momentum heading into the bye week.
