Running back Jadarian Price participated in a limited capacity during the Seattle Seahawks' practice on Thursday. He was designated to return from injured reserve that same day. The team faces the Chicago Bears on Monday night, and Price must be added to the active roster to play in that contest.
Price has missed the last four games due to a chest injury. He first felt the pain during a Week 2 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. He returned for the following week's game against the Washington Commanders but did not play again after that contest.
Head coach Mike Macdonald described it as "realistic" for Price to suit up on Monday. The coach has kept details on the injury status of his players close to the vest recently. With Price back on the field, the Seahawks are nearing full health at the running back position. Zach Charbonnet has also returned to full participation in practice for a second consecutive week.
The team will manage its remaining injury list carefully ahead of the weekend game. Left tackle Charles Cross did not practice on Thursday due to a sprained ankle. He suffered the injury in Sunday night's win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Macdonald said Cross is recovering well and is not expected to be placed back on injured reserve. Josh Jones will start at left tackle in his place. Jones started three games at that position for Seattle last season.
Three other players from the starting rotation missed practice on Thursday. Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed is dealing with a knee injury. Running back Velus Jones Jr. has a hamstring issue. Linebacker Uchenna Nwosu is managing an ankle injury. All three sustained their respective injuries during the game against the Chiefs. Macdonald stated that Shaheed is doing well, implying he is close to returning to the field.
Nine players on the roster were listed as limited for Thursday's session. The group included guard Anthony Bradford, five linebackers, defensive tackle Leonard Williams, and quarterback Drew Lock. Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba took a day off for rest. Linebacker DeMarcus Lawrence was also limited for rest purposes.
The Seahawks will continue their preparation for the Bears on Friday. The team will determine the final active roster after the weekend's practice sessions conclude.
