A missed extra point sent the game to overtime, but the Arizona Cardinals did not wait long to settle the score against the Dallas Cowboys. On Sunday, Chad Ryland converted a 42-yard field goal to secure a 33-30 victory, ending a dramatic contest that saw the hosts lead by two touchdowns late in the fourth quarter.

The loss dropped the Cowboys to 3-5. Their defensive unit performed well for most of the game before collapsing in the final 16 minutes. Dallas allowed an 80-yard drive in just eight plays after the Cardinals took possession with 1:05 remaining in regulation. That sequence ended with Gardner Minshew throwing a 14-yard touchdown pass to Michael Wilson with six seconds left, tying the game at 30.

Ryland missed the potential winning point after it went wide left. He had made his previous 58 attempts. The Cardinals became the third team since 2000 to miss a go-ahead extra point in the final 10 seconds of regulation. The previous instances occurred in 2022 and 2003, both of which resulted in overtime losses for the offending teams.

The Cardinals improved to 5-0 at AT&T Stadium with this win, marking their fifth consecutive victory over Dallas at the venue. The offense was driven by running back Tyler Allgeier, who recorded 191 scrimmage yards. He rushed for 147 yards and caught two passes for 44 yards. Allgeier's 63-yard touchdown run was a career high, and he later caught a 5-yard score to close the game.

Quarterback Gardner Minshew entered the game in the third quarter to replace Jacoby Brissett. Dak Prescott threw one touchdown pass and ran for a score for Dallas, but the offense stalled in overtime. The Cowboys went three-and-out on their final possession, allowing the Cardinals to kick the winning field goal.

Injury concerns affected both rosters. Arizona rookie running back Jeremiyah Love, the No. 3 overall pick, left with an ankle injury. He had missed the previous two games with the same issue. Running back Bam Knight was ruled out with a concussion. For Dallas, rookie safety Caleb Downs exited with a concussion, and tight end Jake Ferguson left with an ankle injury in the first quarter.

The Cardinals travel to Seattle next Sunday. The Cowboys host Indianapolis in the same time slot.
