Seattle Kraken fans left the arena with a 5-4 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs after defenseman Brandon Montour scored with 34 seconds left on Wednesday. The goal capped a game in which Seattle outscored Toronto despite allowing late goals from the visitors.

Toronto’s Gavin McKenna, the No. 1 overall pick, scored on power plays in the first two periods. He also assisted Auston Matthews for a tying goal with 1:30 remaining. The Leafs pulled goalie Sergei Bobrovsky for an extra attacker, but Montour beat him with a slap shot from the top of the right circle.

Chandler Stephenson contributed a goal and an assist for Seattle. He put the Kraken ahead 3-2 on a power play at 3:33 of the second period and set up Ryker Evans’ goal with 9:02 left. Berkly Catton and Josh Mahura also scored for Seattle. Goalie Philipp Grubauer stopped 18 shots.

The Maple Leafs’ Jack Roslovic scored to make it 4-3 at 8:02 of the third period. Matthews, who has 10 goals this season, and McKenna, who has five goals in 15 games, provided the offensive spark for Toronto. Bobrovsky stopped 12 shots in the loss.

Seattle improved to 8 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie. Toronto dropped to 7 wins, 6 losses, and 2 ties.

The Kraken travel to Calgary on Friday night. The Maple Leafs play at San Jose on Saturday night.
