Matt Coronato recorded a career-high four points with a goal and three assists to lead the Calgary Flames past the Seattle Kraken 6-2 on Friday night in Calgary.
The Flames extended their home winning streak to five games. Joel Farabee contributed a goal and two assists, while Morgan Frost and Matvei Gridin each added a goal and an assist. Aydar Suniev and Ryan Strome also found the back of the net for Calgary.
For Seattle, Freddy Gaudreau scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season. Mackie Samoskevich also scored for the Kraken. The loss snaps a recent trend, as Seattle had previously beaten Calgary 6-1 twice during the first week of the season.
Goalie Dustin Wolf started for the Flames, marking his first appearance since Oct. 15. He stopped 20 shots to improve his record to 2-4-0. Philipp Grubauer started for Seattle but was pulled after allowing four goals on 14 shots. Joey Daccord entered in relief and made 11 saves.
Mikael Backlund moved into sole possession of fifth place on Calgary's career scoring list. His assist on Farabee's goal gave him 610 points, consisting of 234 goals and 376 assists. This moved him past Johnny Gaudreau. Backlund is now six points behind Joe Nieuwendyk for fourth place.
The Flames never trailed and converted two of their two power play attempts. Their power play is now 9 for 20 over their last seven games. Seattle allowed 10 power play goals on 17 attempts over their last six games. Calgary enters this game after a 4-0 loss to Edmonton on Wednesday, which ended a four-game winning streak.
The Kraken will host the Flames again next Wednesday. The Flames begin a road trip Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche.
