A vehicle sale on Meridian Street turned violent on October 22, leading to the arrest of a married couple from Nooksack. Whatcom County deputies responded to the 4900 block of Aldrich Road following a report of a stolen car and an assault.

The victim had arranged to meet a buyer at a retail store on Meridian Street to inspect a car for sale. During the test drive, the buyer pulled the vehicle over and ordered the seller out. He then punched the victim in the head multiple times. A second individual, a woman, arrived in another vehicle and began hitting and kicking the victim. The victim stated that one of the suspects placed their hands around their throat to restrict their airway.

The male suspect drove away in the victim's car, while the female suspect departed in her own vehicle. Investigators identified the suspects as David Jackson, 57, and Blanca Jackson, 58. Both residents of Nooksack were later found in a vehicle matching the description of the one that left the scene, parked in their driveway.

Probable cause supported charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, and theft of a motor vehicle. Both Jacksons were arrested on October 25 and booked into the Whatcom County Jail without incident.

The incident highlights the risks associated with private vehicle transactions, though no formal policy changes have been announced by the department in response to this specific case.
