Washington State Ferries canceled two overnight sailings Friday to fix a broken bridge.

The operator identified the issue as repairs needed on the terminal apron at Mukilteo. This apron is the movable bridge section that allows vehicles to drive on and off the vessel. The cancellations affected the 12:35 a.m. trip from Clinton to Mukilteo and the 1:05 a.m. return from Mukilteo to Clinton. The last departures from the terminal were the 11:30 p.m. ferry from Clinton and the 12:05 a.m. ferry from Mukilteo.

The agency did not specify why the apron required maintenance. Regular service at the Mukilteo terminal is scheduled to return Saturday.

A second round of cuts is planned for Sunday, November 1. Washington State Ferries stated that crewing needs require the cancellation of ten sailings for the #1 vessel. The operator explained that crews must move other vessels for maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

The canceled Sunday trips between Bremerton and Seattle are the 4:50 a.m., 7:20 a.m., 9:50 a.m., 12:20 p.m., and 3 p.m. departures from Bremerton. The corresponding return trips from Seattle are scheduled for 6:05 a.m., 8:35 a.m., 11:10 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 4:15 p.m.
